Working at Greenwheels
Greenwheels was founded on an ideal: to make car-sharing available to everyone, thereby making cities more liveable. We have now become a reliable partner in the field of car-sharing, both nationally and internationally. There are, however, still plenty of opportunities to expand further and to be relevant for even more people and businesses.
On June the 21st1995, Greenwheels places its very first vehicle on Dutch soil. In a parking lot in Rotterdam. This is where the founders laid their basis for Greenwheels with the belief that vehicle-use can be made more efficient.
October of 1997 marks the collaboration with the NS. In the years that followed, cars appeared in as many as 33 cities all over the Netherlands. In 2004, Greenwheels takes over German-based StattAuto and Shelldrive, making the cars available in Germany as well.
In 2012 Volkswagen Financial Services and Pon Holdings invested in Greenwheels. The aim is an international rollout of the concept as well as to further develop Greenwheels. The founders left the company in 2015. Greenwheels is now fully owned by Volkswagen FS and Pon Holdings.
Our motto is 'a car for everybody'. This will be your focal point during your working day. This focus also serves as your commitment together with 40 other colleagues in the Netherlands and Germany.
Our organization is characterized by a pragmatic mindset. We like short lines of communication: we don't have a meeting culture, but instead plan these meetings efficiently. You can of course also turn to your colleagues for answers. Clear responsibilities create an environment in which you book results yourself and where the development of knowledge and skills is encouraged. We also enjoy having lunch together, office get-togethers for drinks each month and casual-Friday every week.
Junior .Net Developer -
A car for everyone, that’s our motto. You don’t need to own a car to be able to use one. That’s what we’re working on at Greenwheels. The concept of car sharing is based in large part on our IT solutions, and you, as Junior .NET Developer, can help us to further develop Greenwheels for tomorrow’s user!
Junior .Net Developer
What will you do?
As Junior .Net Developer, you’ll be developing and maintaining the systems and applications that are used by and for Greenwheels. Together with the team, you will create, analyse, elaborate and evaluate new possible solutions. In order to realise a good end result for our customers and end users, you’ll work closely together with the other developers (internal and external), the testers, and the various product owners. Our regular IT team consists of eight people, two of whom are in Germany. We work according to the agile/scrum methods, have DevOps and testers in the team, use tools like Jira and Slack, and we’re on our way to Continuous Delivery and ‘the Cloud’.
Who are we looking for?
As our top candidate, you don’t necessarily have to have work experience as a .Net Developer. However:
- you should have at least completed a technical professional education qualification (Computer Science is an advantage);
- you’ll preferably have knowledge of and experience with several of the following technologies: C#, Java, XML, JSON, SOAP, REST, ASP.Net;
- you’re curious and eager to learn;
- you’re proactive and thorough in your work;
- you communicate with ease, both in Dutch and in English.
What do we offer?
- You’ll receive a salary with us that’s in line with the market, ranging from €2000 (if you don’t have any experience) to €2600 a month;
- The possibility to progress to a more senior role;
- You’ll also build up a good pension (we believe that’s very important, even if it’s a long way off in the future);
- Because we think it’s great for you to drive a Greenwheels car too, you’ll receive a discount on a Greenwheels subscription;
- Your working hours are flexible, so you can combine your work and personal activities more effectively;
- Every day, we make time to have a nice lunch together.
Who are we?
For 23 years already, we’ve been working towards making our cities more liveable with our innovative and sustainable solutions for efficient mobility. We’re an informal organisation located in the heart of Rotterdam, where every day is Casual Friday. And we’re growing faster than ever. The Rotterdam culture is reflected in our organisation. We’re pragmatic, and prefer short lines in our work. Endless meetings are definitely not our thing! We prefer to get working right away. And if you’ve questions, you can always just drop in to ask your colleagues.
